My
Projects
During my time at Benenson Strategy Group, I have worked with various political and advocacy clients. As a researcher and strategic communications consultant I have helped our clients craft winning messaging, communications, and creative strategy for political and advocacy campaigns. Over the past few years, I have worked with clients such as Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, California Immigrant Policy Center, ACLU of Nebraska, SEIU-UHW, Supermajority, and many others. I have ample experience distilling complex data and analysis into a compelling story. This page details a handful projects I have completed in that time, contributing not only to the copy & graphic design of the reports, but completing in-depth quantitative and qualitative analyses informing the narration. All projects can be viewed by clicking the company logo beneath the description text.
As a freelance creative writer, I have experience writing op-eds, narrative non-fiction, fiction, and screenplays. Sample of work within that vein can be viewed on the "Creative Portfolio" page or by clicking here.
Leading the Change: Women Voters on Gender Equality in Our Society, Work and Politics
This was a project for the voter mobilization organization Supermajority, founded by former president of Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards. This project consisted of multi-phase research design exploring issues impacting women, especially women of color. Additionally included branding and messaging insights for internal use. The final public-facing deliverable was the completed report below.
National Attitudes on Public Safety
After the murder of George Floyd in 2020, I commissioned my workplace to finance a multi-phase, multi-city research project exploring a new vision for public safety and push back on the resistance to both the idea and phrase of "defund the police." I independently managed this project from end-to-end, commissioned and worked with an illustrator to design the cover, and wrote the entirety of the copy therein. I wrote the press release that secured coverage in POLITICO, The Trace and others, and wrote the op-ed currently being shopped for publication.
Families Together Orange County
Families Together Orange County, a non-profit health care provider for low-income communities in Southern California, commissioned this comprehensive research on access and barriers to healthcare in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The research and associated copy were included in various clips and reported articles released by the organization.
New Mexico Narrative Project
For the Center for Civic Policy based in New Mexico, we completed another multi-iterative research project exploring values, attitudes and policy priorities of registered voters in New Mexico. For this project I led the development of the final 50+ page report, as well as developed the methodology for gathering insights from Native American groups in the state.
